Police Rescue Two Victims and Arrest Two Suspects in Kaduna Kidnapping Raid

Operatives from the Anti-Kidnapping Unit of the Kano State Police Command raided a kidnappers’ hideout in a deep forest in Gubuchi village, Makarfi Local Government Area of Kaduna State. They arrested two suspects and rescued two victims.

According to SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, the command’s spokesperson, the kidnappers had previously attacked a resident of Rogo Local Government Area in Kano. They beat him into a coma and abducted his 20-year-old daughter.

The kidnappers took the victim to a forest in Kaduna and demanded a ransom of N30 million for her release.

“On 18/07/2024 at about 12:45 am, a report was received from a resident of Zarewa Village in Rogo LGA, Kano. Unknown armed persons had attacked him, beaten him to a coma, and kidnapped his daughter, Hafsat Nuhu, aged 20. They demanded a ransom of Thirty Million Naira (N 30,000,000) for her release,” the statement said.

The Commissioner of Police formed a team from the Anti-Kidnapping Unit, led by SP Aliyu Muhammad Auwal, and ordered the rescue of the victim and the arrest of the suspects. The team acted quickly.

On 24/08/2024 at about 4:30 am, the operatives stormed the kidnappers’ den in the forest in Gubuchi Village, Makarfi LGA, Kaduna State.

The victim was rescued after 37 days in captivity along with another kidnapped victim, Alhaji Badaru Adamu, a 65-year-old from Mahuta Village in Kubau LGA, Kaduna.

Two suspected kidnappers, Yakubu Abubakar, aged 40, and Ali Noti, aged 50, were arrested at the scene. The case is under investigation.
