Libyan Driver Arrested for Attempting to Smuggle Two Undocumented Nigerian Migrants

A driver was arrested in the Brega area of Libya for trying to smuggle two undocumented female migrants from Nigeria.

According to Migrant Rescue Watch, Criminal Investigation Department officers stopped the driver and the two women on Tuesday, September 3, 2024.

During questioning, the driver admitted that he was transporting the women from Houn to Benghazi for money.

“03.09.24 – CID in Brega area seized a vehicle and arrested a Libyan driver (‘B.A.H.A’) for attempting to smuggle 2 undocumented migrant females from Nigeria,” the post said.

“The driver admitted he was transporting the women from Houn to Benghazi for financial gain (700 LYD/about 150 USD per person). All have been referred to public prosecution in Ajdabiya for legal action.”
