Ademola Lookman and Victor Osimhen scored for Nigeria in their 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Benin Republic.
The match was played at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium on Saturday.
Lookman opened the scoring in the first half. Wilfred Ndidi passed the ball to him, but Lookman missed the target. Benin Republic’s goalkeeper, Saturnin Alagbe, made a great save to stop Samuel Chukwueze.
Nigeria’s goalkeeper, Stanley Nwabali, had to be quick to save Steve Mounie’s free kick.
Just before halftime, Lookman scored a great goal. He dribbled past three defenders and shot the ball into the net.
In the second half, Nigeria had the first chance but Lookman missed it. Benin Republic played better, and Mounie tested Nwabali.
Victor Osimhen scored Nigeria’s second goal. Ndidi passed the ball to him, and Osimhen scored.
Lookman scored his second goal of the game in the 83rd minute.
Nigeria will play Rwanda next. The match will be played at the Amahoro Stadium in Kigali on Tuesday.
