Team Nigeria added another medal to their collection on Saturday at the 2024 Paralympic Games in Paris. Flora Ugwunwa won a silver medal in the women’s javelin throw.
Ugwunwa, competing in the F54 category, threw 19.26 meters to finish second. She had throws of 18.00, 18.24, 18.68, 18.40, and 17.50 meters in the final.
Uzbekistan’s Nurkhon Kurbanova won the gold medal with a world record throw of 21.12 meters. Kurbanova also won a bronze medal in the women’s shot put.
Ugwunwa’s win brings Team Nigeria’s medal count to one gold, two silver, and two bronze. They are currently in 52nd place at the Games, which conclude on Sunday.
This comes after Onyinyechi Mark made history by winning gold in the women’s 61kg powerlifting event on Friday.
