The Edo State Police Command has arrested an 18-year-old suspect, Kingdom Paul, for allegedly murdering a 38-year-old woman, Victory Oro, in Benin. The incident reportedly occurred last Thursday at a local lodge where they had arranged a paid sexual encounter.
After agreeing on the arrangement, Paul and Oro completed their meeting, but an argument broke out between them. Paul is accused of stabbing Oro during this disagreement.
The woman was rushed to a hospital on Upper Ekenwan Road but later died from her injuries. Her body has been taken to the hospital’s mortuary for an autopsy.
Paul was one of several people paraded by the Edo Police Command at their headquarters in Benin City.
Edo State Police Spokesman, SP Moses Joel Yamu, said: “On September 5, 2024, at about 12:00 noon, operatives of Evbuotubu Division, acting on information, arrested Kingdom Paul, 18, who stabbed a woman named Victory Oro, 38, at a lodge where they had gone for an encounter.
“The victim was immediately taken to Supreme Hospital, Upper Ekenwan, where she later died. Her body has been deposited in the hospital mortuary for an autopsy. The investigation is ongoing.”
Speaking to reporters, Paul admitted to the crime. He confessed that he attacked Oro suddenly and without any clear reason, despite having agreed to pay her N2,000 for the encounter.
