Nigeria’s Oluwafemiayo Sets World Record and Wins Gold at 2024 Paris Paralympics

Nigeria’s Folashade Oluwafemiayo has made history by breaking her own world record in women’s over 86kg Para-powerlifting.

The 39-year-old, who is the captain of Team Nigeria at the 2024 Paris Paralympics, lifted a remarkable 167kg to secure a gold medal.

This is the first time any Para-athlete has lifted such a heavy weight. Deng Xuemei of China earned the silver medal with a lift of 155kg, and Egypt’s Nadia Ali took bronze with 145kg.
