Federal High Court Grants N10 Million Bail to 10 #EndBadGovernance Protesters

Justice Emeka Nwite of the Federal High Court in Abuja has granted bail to the ten #EndBadGovernance protesters arrested for treason and other charges.

Each defendant was granted bail in the amount of N10 million and must provide a surety in the same sum.

In his ruling, Justice Nwite emphasized that Nigeria’s criminal justice system presumes innocence until proven guilty, aligning with the argument presented by the 1st, 2nd, and 4th defendants’ counsel, Abubakar Marshall.

Despite the serious nature of the charges, which include alleged treason, inciting mutiny, and intent to destabilize Nigeria, Justice Nwite granted bail to all ten defendants.

Justice Nwite said: “I have carefully considered the submission of the counsel on both divides. I hereby grant the defendants’ bail notwithstanding the crime. The bail is hereby granted to the defendants’ applicant in the sum of N10m each and one surety in like some”.

The protesters, who were first arraigned on September 2, are Michael Adaramoye (also known as Lenin), Adeyemi Abayomi, Suleiman Yakubu, Opaoluwa Simon, Angel Innocent, Buhari Lawal, Mosiu Sadiq, Bashir Bello, Nuradeen Khamis, and Aabdulsalam Zubairu.
