Texas Man Kills Wife, Children, and Himself in Apparent Murder-Suicide

A man in Amarillo, Texas, fatally shot his wife and her two children before turning the gun on himself, police said. The incident occurred months after the man was arrested and released on bond for domestic violence charges.

On September 7, authorities responded to a residence after receiving a 911 call from a relative. Upon arrival, they discovered the bodies of Jose David Olmos, 42, Jessica Rose Olmos, 33, and her two children, Daniel and Jazale Garcia, all with gunshot wounds.

Police believe Olmos shot the victims before taking his own life. Court records show he had a history of domestic violence and had been issued a protective order. Despite the order, Jessica had recently returned home in an attempt to reconcile their marriage.

Olmos had previous convictions for marijuana possession and driving while intoxicated. He was also prohibited from possessing firearms, but the gun used in the incident belonged to his wife.

The two children, Daniel and Jazale Garcia, were Jessica’s children from a previous relationship and were not biologically related to Olmos.

Jessica worked as an office manager, and her daughter was a 7th-grade wrestler. The age of her son has not been released.

The Amarillo Police Department’s Homicide Unit is investigating the deaths.
