The Jigawa State police command has confirmed the deaths of three teenage boys from the same family in a building collapse in Birnin Kudu Local Government Area.
Police spokesman Lawan Shiisu reported the tragedy on Tuesday in Dutse, noting that three other individuals survived the incident.
The collapse was initially reported by Ahmad Isah of Kofar Bai quarters, Birnin Kudu LGA, at approximately 12:05 p.m.
Upon receiving the report, a police team, along with local Good Samaritans, rushed to the scene and conducted a rescue operation. They managed to evacuate seven people, who were then taken to Birnin Kudu General Hospital for treatment.
Shiisu stated that the attending physician confirmed the deaths of three of the seven victims. The deceased siblings have been identified as Khalifa Ahmad, 13; Tijjani Ahmad, 12; and Rabiu Ahmad, 12.
The bodies of the deceased have been returned to their family for burial, while the four surviving victims have been admitted to the hospital and are receiving medical care.
