A hit-and-run driver fatally struck an Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Idris Lawal in Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State.
The incident occurred during a stop-and-search operation at Ayemi Garage along Iworoko Road on Monday, September 9, 2024.
The ASP was reportedly crushed to death by a white, unmarked Mercedes Benz. Despite being rushed to Ekiti State Teaching Hospital for immediate medical attention, doctors were unable to save his life. The deceased’s body has been transferred to a morgue for a post-mortem examination.
Local authorities are actively investigating the incident and working to apprehend the driver responsible for the fatal hit-and-run.
