A state-owned security outfit in Katsina State has intercepted a large quantity of ammunition in a commercial vehicle. Acting on a tip-off, members of the Katsina State Community Watch Corps stopped a vehicle with number plate BTR 45 XA in Batsari town on Tuesday, September 10.
Upon inspection, the security personnel discovered 610 rounds of ammunition concealed under a seat. The cache included rounds for AK-47 and General Purpose Machine Gun (GPMG) rifles, as well as two magazines.
A suspect, described as a man in white robes, was observed acting suspiciously during the journey but managed to escape during the inspection.

The Katsina State government has commended the Community Watch Corps for their role in maintaining peace and security in the state.
Dr. Nasir Mu’azu, the Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, has assured the public that the government will continue to support and strengthen the capabilities of security agencies to combat crime effectively.
