A businessman in Cross River State has been arrested by the police for allegedly raping a 1-year-old girl. The incident occurred on September 10, 2024, in Betem, Biase Local Government Area.
According to reports, the suspect, identified as Mr. Nsikak from Akwa Ibom State, lured the child to a private place and molested her. The victim, who is the daughter of a recent tenant, was playing with Mr. Nsikak’s 7-year-old son at the time of the alleged assault.
Following the incident, the suspect reportedly fled to his farm. However, he was apprehended by local youths who refused his attempt to bribe them into silence. The man was subsequently handed over to the police.
The victim is currently receiving medical attention at a cottage hospital in Biase Local Government Area.
