Detectives have arrested the driver of Monsurat Debbie Olakunbi Adene, a late caterer from Akure, who had been on the run after her murder.
The 54-year-old woman was brutally killed in her home on Oda Road, Akure, on July 25, 2024, just five days after celebrating her birthday.
Earlier, the victim’s personal assistant, Philip Emmanuel, was arrested in Akure after police tracked down two Android phones that were stolen by him and the driver following the murder.
Emmanuel, 17, is currently facing murder charges and has been remanded at Olokuta Correctional Centre while awaiting legal advice from the Directorate of Public Prosecutions (DPP).
In his confession to the police, Emmanuel stated that they murdered their boss after she prepared a meal for them two days post-birthday celebration. He explained that she wanted to thank them for their hard work at her party, but after sharing the meal, they conspired to kill her.
The driver is reported to have supplied the weapons used in the brutal attack.
Details surrounding the driver’s arrest remain unclear at this time.
