Kaduna Village Head Released After 140 Days in Captivity

The village head of Kakangi, Birnin Gwari Local Government Area, Kaduna State, has been freed by bandits after 140 days in captivity.

A community member confirmed his release on Thursday, September 19.

Months ago, bandits had attacked the village, killing several residents, including eight vigilante members, and abducting the village heads of Kakangi and Kisaya.

The vigilantes were ambushed while trailing the kidnapped victims, who had been abducted on their way to a burial. In the ensuing clash, the vigilantes killed some of the bandits, but the terrorists managed to escape with the two traditional rulers.
