Manchester City Faces Potential Expulsion from All Competitions if Found Guilty of Breaking Financial Rules

English Premier League club Manchester City is facing the possibility of being expelled from all football competitions if found guilty of violating financial rules.

The English Premier League has accused the club of 115 financial breaches spanning nine years, from 2009.

An investigation into the club’s alleged financial impropriety was initiated after a German publication, Der Spiegel, revealed leaked documents in 2018. City is accused of funneling money from its owners through sponsors in the United Arab Emirates.

According to reports, Manchester City could be removed from all tournaments they participate in if found guilty.

While most English Premier League clubs have previously rejected the idea of a one-time points deduction as a punishment, many have demanded the club’s outright expulsion from the division.

An examination of the rules for England’s two domestic tournaments, the FA Cup and the EFL Cup, reveals that their future participation in these competitions could be in jeopardy.

Both tournaments define participating clubs as members of the league or English Premier League, suggesting that expulsion from the league could also result in removal from these competitions.
