A robot emerged victorious in a standoff with a man who refused to surrender to police in the United States.
Felix Delarosa, 39, barricaded himself inside a motel in Texas on Wednesday morning, September 18. According to a report by KCDB, the suspect was seen through a broken window holding what appeared to be a Bible and speaking on the phone.

Delarosa, who had an outstanding warrant for another crime, opened fire on police when they attempted to make contact. In response, the Lubbock County Sheriff’s Office SWAT team was called in, but their negotiators were also met with gunfire from Delarosa. Despite their efforts to persuade him to surrender peacefully, he continued to shoot inside the motel room.

Eventually, police deployed a Bomb Squad Robot to the scene. Video footage shows the robot approaching Delarosa, who attempted to throw a blanket over it. The robot then moved to the window and sprayed tear gas into the room.
Shortly after, Delarosa crawled out of the window, visibly in pain and clutching his face. The robot then climbed on top of him, signaling its success.
Delarosa was transported by ambulance to the University Medical Center.
