Vigilante Group Apprehends Notorious Kidnappers in Bauchi

A vigilante group in Ningi Local Government Area of Bauchi State, known as “Yan Sakai,” has apprehended two notorious kidnappers terrorizing the region.

The suspects, identified only as Yellow and Sallau, were presented to the Emir of Ningi, Alh Haruna Danyaya III, following their arrest. They confessed to killing one Hardo Bombi after collecting a ransom of N2 million and also admitted to killing Sarkin Lambu for a ransom of N7 million.

In a video posted on the Emirate’s Facebook page, Yellow and Sallau acknowledged that they had orchestrated multiple kidnappings in Ningi, amassing up to N50 million in ransom from the families of their victims. Yellow stated, “We have carried out three kidnappings in Dogon Ruwa, where prominent Fulani leaders were abducted.”

Usman Saleh Magayaki, Secretary of the Ningi Emirate Council, confirmed that their arrest followed a directive from the late Emir, who had instructed local quasi-security operatives to assist conventional security agencies in combating banditry and kidnappings in the area.

Magayaki reported that the two suspects were responsible for the abduction of key community leaders, including the village head of Bombi and the ward head of Lambu. He emphasized, “They confessed to killing Hardo Bombi after collecting N2 million ransom, and they also killed Sarkin Lambu for N7 million. They are linked to several kidnappings in Balma as well.”

He further stated, “Their arrest marks a significant achievement for the Emirate. They are currently in the custody of Yan Sakai, who will hand them over to the police after conducting their investigation.”
