On Saturday, the All Progressives Congress (APC), All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), and Labour Party (LP) protested the absence of result sheets at polling units in Enugu State.
The protest erupted when officials from the Enugu State Independent Electoral Commission (ENSIEC) arrived at polling units at 9:40 a.m. without the necessary documents.
At polling units 008, 020, 003, 002, and 001 in Christ Church, Enugu South Council, agents from the APC and LP refused to proceed with the election until the result sheets were provided.
A Labour Party agent, who requested anonymity, stated: “ENSIEC provided other materials, but the result sheets were missing. “The Supervisory Presiding Officer claimed she had the results, but would only bring them in the afternoon for the Presiding Officer to enter scores.”
An APC agent, also wishing to remain unnamed, echoed this concern, asserting: “There will be no election without result sheets.”
APGA’s acting chairman, Ekene Uzodimma, reported similar issues in Awgu Ward Nine, noting that election materials arrived without result sheets. “Many polling units in my ward have not received materials by 11 a.m.,” he said.
Okeke Fidelis, an APGA councillor for Trans-Ekulu Ward, indicated that his entire ward had not received any election materials. Additionally, Uche, an APGA collation agent, was denied entry at Enugu North Council Area, allegedly because only PDP agents were permitted.
In Udi Council Areas, APGA chairmanship candidate Chukwuemeka Ochi reported that numerous polling units had yet to receive their election materials.
Low voter turnout was observed in many polling units across the Enugu South Council Area.
