INEC Declares APC’s Monday Okpebholo Winner of Edo State Governorship Election

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared Monday Okpebholo of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the winner of the Edo State governorship election held on Saturday, September 21.

Prof. Faruk Kuta, INEC’s Returning Officer for the election, announced that Okpebholo received 291,667 votes, defeating Asue Ighodalo of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who garnered 247,274 votes. Olumide Akpata of the Labour Party (LP) placed third with 22,763 votes. Fourteen other candidates participated in the election but received fewer votes than the top three.

Kuta, who is also the Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University of Technology, Minna, in Niger State, stated: “That Okpebholo Monday of APC having satisfied the requirement of the law is hereby declared the winner and is returned elected.”
