A 50-year-old Italian man, Lorenzo Carbone, has confessed to strangling his 80-year-old mother, Loretta Levrini, on live television. Levrini was suffering from dementia.
Carbone made the shocking admission during an interview with a journalist on the Italian show “Pomeriggio 5.” He expressed remorse for his actions, stating that he “couldn’t take it anymore” caring for his mother.
The incident occurred in the Modena province of Italy. Levrini’s body was discovered by her daughter in her bed on Sunday. Carbone had fled the scene but was later apprehended and confessed to the crime.
Carbone revealed that he had attempted to suffocate his mother with a pillowcase and shoelaces before resorting to strangulation with a lace. He admitted to being frustrated with his mother’s repetitive behavior due to her dementia.
The local community expressed shock and disbelief at the tragic event. Neighbors described the family as reserved and noted that Carbone had been unemployed and his mother was in poor health.
Authorities are investigating the circumstances surrounding the murder and awaiting the results of an autopsy
