A 22-year-old man, Idowu Oguntuase, was tragically killed, and four others were abducted in a kidnapping incident in Ekiti State.
The attack occurred on Sunday, September 22nd, along the Isan-Iludun Ekiti road in the Ilejemeje local government area. The victims, including Idowu, who was the driver for the Ekiti State Commissioner for Local Government, were traveling on the road when they were ambushed by gunmen.
The Ekiti State Police Command confirmed the incident but announced that all four kidnapped victims have been safely rescued.
DSP Sunday Abutu, the police spokesperson, stated that efforts are ongoing to apprehend the perpetrators of the crime.
During a State Assembly plenary session, Hon. Princess Iyabo Fakunle-Okieimen, representing Ilejemeje Constituency, drew attention to the incident. The Speaker, Rt. Hon. Adeoye Aribasoye, and other lawmakers expressed their condolences to the family of Idowu Oguntuase and the Ilejemeje community.
