A husband and wife were found dead in their home in Tunbridge Wells, Kent, England, after a brutal murder-suicide.
Richard Parks, 63, strangled, stabbed, and bludgeoned his wife, Suratchanee ‘Lat’ Parks, 53, to death with a hammer, before taking his own life.
An inquest heard that Parks had suffered stab wounds to his neck and was found with a knife in his hand. His wife was discovered in the bathtub with strangulation marks and multiple knife wounds. A pathologist concluded that she had tried to defend herself.
The couple, who had met in Thailand, had recently been struggling with financial difficulties and mental health issues. On February 23, loved ones discovered their bodies after becoming concerned for their welfare.
Police found evidence of violence throughout the house and concluded that there was no third-party involvement. The coroner ruled that Lat was unlawfully killed and that Parks had taken his own life.
The tragedy has devastated both families, who are struggling to come to terms with the loss of their loved ones.
