FG Declares October 1 as Public Holiday for Independence Day

The Federal Government has announced that Tuesday, October 1, 2024, will be a public holiday to commemorate Nigeria’s 64th Independence Day anniversary.

The declaration was made in a statement issued by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior, Dr. Magdalene Ajani, on Saturday in Abuja. Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, the Minister of Interior, congratulated Nigerians on this special occasion.

In his statement, Minister Tunji-Ojo praised the hard work and resilience of Nigerians, both at home and abroad. He assured them that their sacrifices would not be in vain.

Aligning with the theme of the Independence Day celebration, the minister emphasized the importance of reflecting on the contributions of Nigeria’s past heroes. He urged Nigerians to be inspired by their legacy and work towards building a united and prosperous nation.

Wishing Nigerians a happy Independence Day celebration, the minister encouraged them to remain steadfast in their commitment to nation-building.
