NSCDC Officer Dismissed for Alleged Banditry Collaboration

In a shocking development, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Zamfara State Command, has dismissed one of its officers, ASCII Maikano Sarkin-Tasha, for allegedly collaborating with bandits to supply hard drugs and ammunition.

The state Commandant, Sani Mustapha, announced this during a press briefing in Gusau on Saturday.

Sarkin-Tasha was arrested by the police on Friday and paraded alongside 17 other suspected bandit collaborators. The NSCDC Commandant expressed deep disappointment and shock at the news, describing the officer’s alleged actions as barbaric and a betrayal of the corps’ values.

According to Mustapha, the officer was apprehended at a checkpoint between Damba and Sabon Gida while traveling to his hometown. Upon inspection, he was found in possession of cannabis, other hard drugs, and military-grade equipment, including armor for G3 rifles and an anti-rocket launcher.

The NSCDC Commandant-General, Dr. Ahmed Audi, also condemned the officer’s alleged actions and directed his immediate dismissal. Mustapha emphasized the corps’ zero-tolerance policy for indiscipline, corruption, and criminality, stating that the officer’s actions were isolated and do not reflect the values of the NSCDC.

The case has been referred to the NSCDC national headquarters in Abuja for further disciplinary action and prosecution. The Zamfara State Command has pledged to cooperate with other security agencies in the fight against crime and ensure that all officers adhere to the highest standards of conduct.
