Doctors successfully removed a large glass jar from a man’s bowel during a delicate surgery that carried a significant risk of death.
The man had inserted the jar into his anus during an unusual sexual encounter, and had the glass shattered inside him, he could have bled to death or sustained fatal organ damage.
Fortunately, the medical team was able to extract the jar intact, preventing any sharp shards from causing further harm. Hospital representatives in Nizhny Novgorod, Russia, emphasized that doctors should not judge patients for their unconventional sexual practices. “Remember that doctors are not the morality police,” stated hospital spokesperson Alexey Nikonov.
The case, reported in The Sun, included X-ray images showing the glass jar positioned high in the man’s rectum, moving toward the upper bowel.
Along with the jar, doctors also retrieved a condom and lubricant. Mr. Nikonov encouraged locals to seek medical assistance without hesitation, despite Russia’s strict anti-LGBT laws.
