British Teacher Jailed and Banned from Classroom for Child Sexual Abuse

A British teacher has been permanently banned from the classroom after being convicted of sexually abusing two schoolboys.

Carol Ann White, 41, targeted the boys, then aged 11 and 12, while employed in two primary schools in North Lanarkshire.

A police investigation was launched after discovering that White had been exchanging sexually suggestive messages with a 12-year-old boy during the first COVID-19 lockdown. The investigation revealed that White had also engaged in sexual activity with an 11-year-old boy at a school store cupboard.

White was convicted of engaging in sexual activity with the boys and possessing indecent images of one of them. She was sentenced to three years in prison and placed on the sex offenders’ register indefinitely.

The General Teaching Council for Scotland (GTCS) has removed White’s teaching registration, effectively banning her from the classroom. The GTCS website states that a removed teacher can only be reinstated if they demonstrate fitness to teach to a panel.

Sheriff Morag Shankland, in sentencing White, emphasized the serious breach of trust and lack of remorse displayed by the teacher.
