French President Macron Calls for Halt to Arms Deliveries to Israel Amid Ongoing Gaza Conflict

French President Emmanuel Macron urged on Saturday for a halt to arms deliveries to Israel, advocating for “a political solution” to the ongoing Gaza conflict, which has persisted since the October 7 attack by Hamas.

In an interview with broadcaster France Inter, Macron stated, “I think that today, the priority is that we return to a political solution, that we stop delivering weapons to fight in Gaza.” He emphasized that France is not supplying arms to Israel.

This call follows the UK’s recent decision to suspend some of its licenses for military items used by the Israeli military in Gaza, a move that drew criticism from Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Additionally, Germany has paused the approval of new arms export licenses to Israel, as reported by Reuters.

Macron’s comments come amid Israel’s escalating conflict with Hezbollah, a terrorist group in Lebanon, which has been firing rockets into Israel for nearly a year.
