An Islamic teacher, Malam Idris Abubakar, has been arrested in Adamawa State for allegedly sodomizing two of his pupils, aged 12 and 10.
The 22-year-old teacher, from Gaya Ward in Mubi South Local Government Area, was apprehended after the parent of one of the boys reported the incident to the police.
The victims claimed that Abubakar, who taught them Islamic lessons, engaged them in domestic work after school hours. He allegedly forced them to massage his body before committing the acts of homosexuality. The minors said the suspect threatened them with severe consequences if they revealed his actions.
The mother of one of the boys told police that her son had been complaining of stomach pain and purging. After investigating, she discovered the truth and reported the matter to the authorities.
The suspect has denied the charge of homosexuality, admitting only to engaging the boys in domestic work.
The Adamawa State Police Command spokesperson, SP Suleiman Nguroje, confirmed the incident and stated that the state Commissioner of Police has ordered a full-scale investigation. Nguroje added that the suspect would be taken to court upon completion of the investigation.
