Two teenage schoolgirls in Bogotá, Colombia, narrowly escaped death when a minibus nearly ran them over. The harrowing incident was captured on surveillance video.
The 14-year-old girls were sitting on a sidewalk in Ciudad Bolivar on Tuesday, October 1, after school when the minibus, with reportedly failed brakes, skidded onto the sidewalk and flew over them.
Miraculously, the girls were able to get up before one tripped to the ground and the other ran and fell on the street. The vehicle then tilted to its left side and crashed into a wooden utility pole.
One of the students, Jirley Bermúdez, described the terrifying moment to CityTV, saying she heard a loud sound and turned to see the bus rolling towards her and her friend.

“A miracle, really,” she said. “I felt a tremor on the ground and turned to look back, what I saw was the car rolling.”
Bermúdez said concerned neighbors rushed to the scene, initially believing the girls had been hit by the bus. The residents prevented the girls from leaving until paramedics arrived.
Both girls were treated for head and body scratches.
