A hippopotamus was killed in Yauri town, Kebbi State, and its meat distributed to villagers.
The animal was put down on Monday, October 7, following the order of the State Governor and the Emir of Yauri, Zayyanu Abdullahi, after it killed one of the emir’s staff.
Forty fishermen used bows and arrows to kill the hippopotamus after an extensive search.
Videos shared on Facebook show the animal being killed and transported to the Palace of District Head of Gungu, Kasimu Aliyu, where it was slaughtered and its meat distributed to the people.
