The Zamfara State government has issued a stern warning to communities suspected of harboring bandits, threatening to demolish them.
This announcement was made by the state’s Deputy Governor, Malam Mani Mummuni, during a visit to the Tsafe Emirate to commiserate with the community following the tragic killing of nine members of the Community Protection Guards (CPG) by bandits.
According to reports, the bandits ambushed the security operatives along the Tsafe-Funtua road, resulting in the loss of nine lives. Deputy Governor Mummuni specifically accused residents of the Maikwanugga community of aiding the bandits by providing them with shelter and food.
He claimed that the village allowed the bandits to spend the night before launching their deadly attack on the CPG operatives, who were deployed to protect travelers.
Mummuni expressed the government’s deep frustration with the actions of those who betray the state and undermine the efforts of security agencies to combat insecurity.
He emphasized that such behavior would not be tolerated and that the government would take decisive action against any community found to be harboring bandits.
