New Obio Akpor Chairman Removes Wike’s Name from Council Building

Chijioke Ihunwo, the newly elected Chairman of Obio Akpor Local Government Area in Rivers State, has removed the name of Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, from the administrative block of the council.

Wike, a former chairman of the local council and a native of Rumuepirikom community, previously had his name prominently displayed on the administrative building of the council secretariat.

Ihunwo stated that Wike has caused significant trouble for the local government area and replaced his name with that of the late Obi Wali, a former politician and activist in the state.

Sharing a video of the signage replacement on X, Ihunwo remarked, ““We have changed Wike’s name in the admin block of Obio/Akpor Council, and replaced with the name of SENATOR DR. OBI WALI.”

Ihunwo, along with 22 other newly elected LGA chairpersons, was recently sworn in by State Governor Siminalayi Fubara.
