In a tragic incident in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe, John Magu faced court for violently assaulting his wife, Melody Magagula, after she caught him cheating.
The confrontation left Magagula with severe injuries and led to her miscarriage. The altercation began when she found Magu with his mistress at their home. When she confronted him, he became aggressive.
“I rushed over and found my husband with his girlfriend. When I asked what was happening, he turned violent and attacked me,” Magagula testified in court.
After the incident, both Magu and Magagula sought protection orders against each other to prevent further abuse. Magagula pointed out that despite her husband’s infidelity, he frequently accuses her of being unfaithful.
Magu denied the abuse allegations, asserting that Magagula is often violent and disrespectful. Nonetheless, he expressed his love for her and hope for reconciliation.
Magistrate Challenge Mahembe issued five-year protection orders for both parties. Magu is prohibited from physically or verbally abusing Magagula, while she is barred from emotionally or physically assaulting him.
