A couple and another man were tragically killed by a truck along the Sagamu-Ogijo road in Ogun State.
The accident occurred on Sunday, October 13, 2024, involving a Foton truck with registration number EKY 778 XM, a Space Wagon car with registration number AM 299 AHD, driven by Wahab Ogunyemi, and a Bajaj motorcycle with number plate JGB 265 WG, ridden by 25-year-old Moses Ekpolo and his 19-year-old wife, Josephine.
According to Ogun State Police Command spokesperson SP Omolola Odutola, the crash was attributed to the reckless driving of the truck driver, who lost control and collided with the motorcycle and the Space Wagon.
“The driver of the truck suddenly lost control leaving his lane and collided with the motorcycle from behind, causing it to hit the space wagon car simultaneously,” she explained.
Moses Ekpolo, his wife, and a passenger in the Space Wagon, Kolawole Moshood, suffered severe injuries and were rushed to Idera Private Hospital in Sagamu, where they were pronounced dead on arrival. Their bodies have since been moved to Idera Mortuary.
The PPRO urged drivers of articulated vehicles to prioritize safety and advised all road users to maintain safe distances from large trucks.
