A devastating fire swept through a lounge and bar in the Olodi Apapa area of Lagos State on Sunday, October 13, 2024, tragically claiming the lives of four workers. The victims were identified as four men, who were burnt beyond recognition.
The Lagos State Police Command spokesperson, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the incident, stating that a distress call was received at the station around 7:50 AM, reporting the fire that had engulfed the lounge and bar shortly before 7:45 AM.
In response, a team of police officers and firefighters were immediately dispatched to the scene. Despite their swift efforts, the fire consumed the entire building before it was eventually brought under control.
The authorities are currently investigating the cause of the fire, and further details are expected to be released in due course.
Hundeyin said: “Investigation revealed that four yet-to-be identified staff of the company got burnt beyond recognition in the fire. Their corpses were evacuated to Infectious Disease Hospital (IDH) morgue at Yaba.”
