Barrister Aloy Ejimakor, the special lawyer for Nnamdi Kanu, the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), has criticized the Nigerian government and individuals who blame IPOB for every incident of insecurity in the South-East region, calling it misguided.
Ejimakor argued that this narrative is part of a larger agenda to demonize both IPOB and the people of the South-East. He emphasized that it is widely understood that both state and non-state actors from outside the region are involved in the ongoing insecurity issues.
He wrote on X, “In line with the plot to demonize the IPOB in particular and Ndigbo in general, every incidence of insecurity in Southeast is always blamed on IPOB. This is silly, because sensible persons know too well that both State & non-State actors of non-Southeast origin are complicit.”
His remarks came on Saturday, in response to claims from the Nigerian government and security agencies linking IPOB and its security outfit, the Eastern Security Network (ESN), to the unrest in the South-East.
