Nigerian Army Apprehends Female Firearms Courier in Plateau State

Troops from the Nigerian Army have successfully arrested a woman involved in firearms trafficking and her accomplice at a motor park in Barkin Ladi Local Government Area, Plateau State.

In a statement released over the weekend, the Army announced that 505 rounds of 7.62mm (special) ammunition were recovered from the suspects.

Acting on intelligence reports indicating that the suspects were smuggling weapons from Plateau to terrorists in Zamfara State, security forces conducted a joint operation on October 17, 2024.

The statement read: “On 17 October 2024, working alongside other security agencies, troops trailed and arrested a female firearms courier and her accomplice at Barikin Ladi Motor Park in Plateau State.

“Intelligence had revealed that this gun-running syndicate was smuggling arms from Plateau to terrorists in Zamfara State.

“The operation led to the arrest of Mrs. Fidausu Hassan and Mr. Sani Isah Musa, from whom the troops recovered 505 rounds of 7.62mm (special) ammunition.”
