Gunmen believed to be cult members have killed four residents in the Edeoha community within the Ahoada East Local Government Area of Rivers State.
The assailants, suspected to be part of the Iceland cult group, launched their attack around 2 a.m. on Sunday, October 20, 2024, armed with sophisticated weaponry and firing shots indiscriminately.
Residents reported that the gunmen went from house to house in search of specific targets, causing widespread panic as people fled to avoid stray bullets.
A community member, speaking anonymously to Punch, noted that the motive behind the attack remains unknown.
“The whole community was in confusion when they came and started shooting. Three of those k!lled are natives of Edeoha while the other one is a native of the Ekata community still in Aboada East LGA but resides in Edeoha,” the source explained.
