Former Valencia Player Among Victims of Deadly Spanish Floods

Spain has been devastated by severe floods that have claimed the lives of at least 158 people, with many more still missing. Emergency services are conducting extensive searches in the hardest-hit Valencia region, where the death toll is expected to rise.

Among the victims is 28-year-old former Valencia player Jose Castillejo. The midfielder, who also played for Eldense, Paterna, CD Bunol, Recam Colon, and Torre Levante, lost his life in the catastrophic floods.

Valencia Football Club expressed its condolences, stating, “We regret the death of Jose Castillejo, a victim of the Dana disasters. He was part of the club’s Academy until his youth stage and has played for several teams in the Valencian Community. RIP.”  

Eldense also paid tribute to Castillejo, offering their heartfelt condolences to his family and friends.

Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez urged residents to stay indoors as the crisis continues. The Valencia region bore the brunt of the disaster, with 92 fatalities reported in a devastating 24-hour period.
