A 58-year-old father of four, Omolayo Bamidele, has reportedly taken his own life in Igburowo, Odigbo Local Government Area of Ondo State.
Residents told TheCable that Bamidele’s body was discovered lying on a dusty road around 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday. A witness reported that a bottle of a chemical substance, believed to be “Sniper,” was found next to him.
According to the witness, Bamidele had recently had a minor argument with a family member and had expressed suicidal thoughts.
Odunlami Ibukun, the police spokesperson in Ondo, confirmed the incident and stated that an investigation is underway. However, he noted that the police cannot yet confirm whether it was a suicide.
Bamidele’s body has been taken to the morgue at the Ondo State Specialist Hospital in Ore, the headquarters of Odigbo LGA.
