Kenyan businessman Francis Ng’ang’a has spoken out about the death of his wife, Lucy Wambui, following cosmetic surgery at a clinic in Nairobi.
Wambui developed complications after the procedure and was admitted to a city hospital, where she died four days later.
A post-mortem report revealed that she had developed chest pains and difficulty breathing on the second day after the abdominal fat liposuction procedure.
Speaking to Citizen TV, the grieving husband said his wife had suffered perforated intestines as a result of the surgery at the Body by Design clinic. He blamed the clinic for her death, stating that they sent her home and then closed immediately.
“I asked them why my wife was excreting and smelling, and they told me it was part of the healing process. When they noticed she was critically ill, they told her to go home, and they closed the clinic,” Ng’ang’a said.
He explained that efforts to seek further treatment for his wife were futile as the clinic had been closed and was inaccessible.

“Ten minutes after she arrived home, she got very ill, and when we returned her to the clinic, we found it had been closed, and we only found the security guards,” he added.
Ng’ang’a recounted a poignant conversation with his wife on October 26, unaware it would be their last.
“She called me and told me she was feeling very bad. She told me that if she dies, I should take care of her children just like we would take care of them when it was just the two of us,” he recalled.

Meanwhile, the government has shut down the facility pending an investigation into Wambui’s death.
In a statement on Saturday, November 2, the Ministry of Health said that the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council had conducted a comprehensive investigation into the clinic’s practices and standards.
