A Chief Magistrate Court in Wuse Zone 2, Abuja, has sentenced Jide Josiah Jisos to six months imprisonment for impersonating a JAMB official during the 2019 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME). Alternatively, the court offered a N100,000 fine.
The ruling, delivered on 24 October 2024 by Chief Magistrate Hon. Justice Folashade Oyekan, followed the arrest of Jisos by Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) officials while monitoring the UTME at Brix Academy in Abuja.
According to Dr. Fabian Benjamin, JAMB’s Public Communication Advisor, Jisos had falsely presented himself as a representative of a non-governmental organisation (NGO) overseeing the examination. However, his inability to provide credible information about his role and affiliation raised suspicions among JAMB officials.
Subsequently, Jisos was handed over to security personnel for further investigation. During questioning, he confessed to having no affiliation with any NGO and admitted to entering the exam hall to assist his daughter in the UTME.
