President Tinubu has ordered the immediate release of all minors arrested and facing prosecution in court for their alleged involvement in the #EndBadGovernance protest that took place across the country in August.
The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, disclosed this while briefing State House correspondents in Abuja on 4 November. He also mentioned that President Tinubu has directed that all law enforcement agents involved in the arrest, detention, and prosecution of the minors be investigated, and anyone found culpable will face appropriate disciplinary action.
Idris revealed that President Tinubu has also instructed the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction to oversee the welfare of the minors.
This follows a public outcry after videos of the minors looking malnourished and even fainting while being arraigned before a High Court in Abuja last Friday went viral.
