Video: House Help Leads Robber to Employer’s Home: Attacks Another Domestic Worker, Steals Jewellery, Cash, Laptops, and Phones

A newly employed house help is on the run after orchestrating a robbery at her employer’s residence in the Ushirika Tower estate in Eastleigh, Nairobi, Kenya.

A viral robbery video shows the robber assaulting another woman while the house help looked on.

Inspector General of Police, Douglas Kanja, confirmed the incident and stated that the victim is a 20-year-old Somali named Hakimo Muhidin. He added that she survived the attack.

Kanja said a report was made to the Starehe police station, prompting an investigation. He assured Kenyans of their safety while stating that they are pursuing leads on the suspects’ whereabouts to bring them to justice.

The main suspect, captured on CCTV, gained entry to the building using a hammer.

Police believe the assailant, a Ugandan national, accessed the sixth-floor apartment with the assistance of the house help, Everlyne, who is also a Ugandan national.

Upon entering, the assailant brutally assaulted Muhidin with the help of Everlyne. Investigators reported that a number of valuable items, including gold jewellery, cash, and laptops, were stolen during the incident.

The victim sustained serious injuries, including a broken tooth and trauma to her hand, head, and legs. She also showed signs of being whipped, with visible marks on her back.

After receiving medical treatment, she was discharged and is currently recovering at a relative’s home.

Authorities are also searching for the accomplice, who had joined the household just three weeks prior to the incident and managed to escape with the assailant.

At the time of the robbery, the tenant was out with his children, while his wife was reportedly in India for medical treatment.

A team of detectives has been formed to investigate the matter.
