A Kano State High Court has ordered the remand of a 43-year-old man, Mannir Ibrahim-Abdullahi, in a correctional centre for allegedly raping and killing a 9-year-old girl.
Ibrahim-Abdullahi, who resides in Jaba Quarters, Kano, was charged with culpable homicide and rape by the Kano State Government.
Justice Zuwaira Yusuf adjourned the case until December 9, 2024, for further hearing.
The prosecution counsel, Mr Lamido Abba-Sorondinki, alleged that the defendant committed the crime on August 1st, 2024, at Jaba Panisau Quarters.
The victim’s father had taken the child to the defendant’s chemist shop for malaria treatment.
“The defendant raped the victim to death,” Abba-Sorondinki told the court.
Ibrahim-Abdullahi pleaded not guilty to the charges, which contravene Sections 221 and 283 of the Penal Code.
