Manchester United have confirmed the departure of club legend Ruud van Nistelrooy as interim head coach.
Van Nistelrooy was appointed to the role following the sacking of Erik ten Hag last month. However, with the arrival of new head coach Ruben Amorim, Van Nistelrooy and his coaching staff are no longer needed.
During his brief tenure, Van Nistelrooy oversaw four games, leading United to three wins and a draw. These included victories over Leicester City in both the Carabao Cup and Premier League, a Europa League win against PAOK, and a league draw with Chelsea.
In a club statement, Manchester United said, “Ruud is, and always will be, a Manchester United legend. We are grateful for his contribution and the way in which he has approached his role throughout his time with the club. He will always be very welcome at Old Trafford.”
Alongside Van Nistelrooy, coaches Rene Hake, Jelle ten Rouwelaar, and Pieter Morel have also left the club. The Red Devils have confirmed that they will announce their new coaching staff in due course.
