148 Nigerians Repatriated from Niger Republic

The Nigerian government has confirmed the repatriation of 148 Nigerians from Niger Republic.

The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) announced on Thursday that the returnees arrived in Lagos on Tuesday. They were received by NEMA’s Lagos Territorial Office (LTO) and other relevant agencies, with support from the International Organization for Migration (IOM).

The statement added that the group, which included 120 adult males, nine adult females, 10 male children, seven female children, and two infants, landed at Murtala Muhammed International Airport’s Cargo Terminal at approximately 2:15 PM on a Skymali flight.

Due to adverse weather conditions, there was a brief delay in transferring the returnees from the aircraft. Once the rain subsided, Nigerian Immigration Service officials and aircraft handlers facilitated the transportation of the group to a biometric registration centre for documentation.

Other agencies present at the airport included the National Commission for Refugees, Migrants, and Internally Displaced Persons (NCFRMI), the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), and the IOM.
