Anambra Police Nab Couple for Allegedly Specialising in Threatening Residents with Abduction or Murder to Demand Ransom

Anambra State Police Command has arrested a couple involved in a disturbing pattern of sending threatening messages to residents.

The couple, identified as Okoye Kingsley (36) and Chidinma Okoye (27), were apprehended in Ozubulu, Ekwusigo Local Government Area, following an investigation triggered by numerous complaints from concerned citizens.

According to the command’s spokesperson, Superintendent of Police Tochukwu Ikenga, the couple sent threatening text messages and voice notes to people, demanding ransom with threats of abduction or murder.

The statement read: The Couple specialises in sending threatening messages to people and demanding ransom or they shall be abducted or killed. They all confessed to the crime and admitted to destroying some of the sim cards which they had earlier used to commit the crimes.”

The State Commissioner of Police, CP Nnaghe Obono Itam, has ordered the case to be transferred to the Anti-Kidnapping and Robbery Squad for further investigation. Upon the conclusion of inquiries, the suspects will be charged in court.
