Four Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) officers were killed in a Boko Haram ambush in Niger State on November 18, 2024.
The attack occurred near the Niger-Kaduna state border while the officers were conducting an inspection tour of national grid installations.
Of the seven officers initially reported missing, four bodies have been recovered, one remains unaccounted for, and two have returned safely.
The ambush targeted a convoy escorting expatriates who had been stranded in the Dagwachi Village area. Over 200 heavily armed insurgents opened fire on the convoy from an elevated position. Despite being outnumbered, the NSCDC officers repelled the attack, neutralizing over 50 insurgents.
NSCDC Commandant General Dr. Ahmed Audi condemned the attack, expressing condolences to the families of the deceased and praising the bravery of the officers. He urged the public to support security agencies in combating insecurity and protecting lives and property.
