A violent attack by heavily armed bandits in the Dan Tudu community of Sabon Birni Local Government Area, Sokoto State, Nigeria, has claimed the lives of nine people and left one person injured. The attack occurred on the night of Sunday, 1 December 2024.
The assailants also abducted several residents and looted valuable possessions, plunging the community into mourning. Local sources reported that the bandits raided homes, stealing livestock, cash, and other belongings before retreating into the forest with their captives.


Security analyst Zagazola Makama identified the attackers as members of notorious gangs led by Saidu Zango, Bello Turji, and Jammo Baki, who are known to operate within the Gangara axis of Sokoto State.
This latest attack underscores the persistent security challenges faced by communities in northern Nigeria.


Residents of Sabon Birni have called for increased security measures to protect vulnerable areas and prevent further bloodshed.

Authorities are yet to issue a detailed statement on the incident, but the community continues to grapple with the devastating aftermath of the assault.
